Frequently asked questions.
Everything else you were going to ask.
-
Nationwide — plans arrive digitally, so location isn't a barrier.
-
Yes — from decks and bathroom renos through to commercial fit-outs and larger builds. If you're not sure whether your project fits, just ask.
-
A takeoff gives you the measured quantities off your plans — timber, concrete, roofing, and so on, delivered as a spreadsheet. An estimate goes further and puts a price on the finished job. My EstiMate measures quantities only — you (or your supplier) add the pricing.
-
No. My EstiMate provides measured quantities only — we don't provide costs or rates for tendering or quoting, and we don't request or provide supplier quotes. Your takeoff sheet is set up ready for you to add your own rates.
-
These are shown as a lump sum on your takeoff sheet rather than itemised in detail — they're specialist trades best quoted directly by the relevant subcontractor.
-
Every takeoff is measured directly off the plans you provide. Accuracy depends on the plans being scalable and readable — if something's unclear, we'll flag it by email and confirm before we start rather than guess. That said, checking the final quantities before you quote or order materials off them is your responsibility.
-
Yes — send through the variation details by email and we'll measure it separately.
-
Primarily builders and trades on the tools who need a takeoff for quoting. If you're an architect or designer needing quantities, get in touch and we can discuss.
-
That's exactly what this is built for. Send through everything sitting on your desk and we'll work through it.
-
Your rate includes one revision or correction. Beyond that, no refunds are offered, and My EstiMate takes no liability for errors or omissions — it's on you to check the work before using it.
-
No — send us finished, readable plans and we'll measure exactly what's on them.
-
No, you don't need someone local. Because the whole process runs on digital plans and email, My EstiMate works exactly the same whether you're next door in Tauranga or on the other side of New Zealand. No site visits are required for a standard takeoff, so location never slows things down.
